BAOBAB DUTY FREE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

These Terms & Conditions govern the use of the Baobab Duty Free remote ordering platform and apply to all customers registering an account or purchasing goods.

CUSTOMER REGISTRATION

By registering, you confirm that:

  • The passport uploaded belongs to you.
  • The immigration exit stamp relates to your current journey.
  • All information provided is true and accurate.
  • You are legally entitled to purchase duty-free goods.

Providing false or misleading information may result in your registration or order being cancelled.

Remote Orders

Registration enables customers to place orders remotely before arriving at Beitbridge Border Post.

All orders remain subject to:

  • Product availability
  • Verification of customer identity
  • All information provided is true and accurate.
  • Verification of travel documentation
  • Compliance with Zimbabwe customs legislation

Submission of an order does not guarantee acceptance.

Collection of Goods

Goods may only be released after Baobab Duty Free has verified:
  • The customer’s identity
  • The customer’s passport
  • The relevant immigration documentation
Baobab Duty Free reserves the right to request the original passport before releasing any goods. Orders not collected on the scheduled travel date may be cancelled.

Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA)

Baobab Duty Free operates under the supervision of the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA). Customers acknowledge that:
  • All purchases are subject to the Customs and Excise Act and all applicable ZIMRA regulations.
  • The traveller rebate is administered solely by ZIMRA.
  • The traveller rebate is generally available only on a traveller’s first entry into Zimbabwe during a calendar month, subject to ZIMRA’s requirements.
  • Eligibility for any rebate is determined solely by ZIMRA at the time of importation.
  • Customers are responsible for declaring goods where required.
  • Customers remain responsible for any customs duties, taxes, penalties or charges that may become payable.

Baobab Duty Free cannot override or interpret ZIMRA decisions.

Traveller Allowances

Traveller allowances are prescribed by ZIMRA and may change without notice. While Baobab Duty Free may provide general guidance, customers acknowledge that:
  • Allowances may differ depending on the goods purchased
  • Customs officials make the final determination at the border
  • Customers should familiarise themselves with the latest ZIMRA requirements before travelling. Click here for more info.
For this reason, Baobab Duty Free does not guarantee that any purchase will qualify for duty-free entry.

Customer Responsibilities

Customers agree to:
  • Provide genuine travel documentation.
  • Comply with all Zimbabwe customs legislation.
  • Comply with the customs laws of their destination country where applicable.
  • Not purchase goods for unlawful or commercial purposes where prohibited.
  • Present original identification if requested.

Baobab Duty Free Rights

Baobab Duty Free reserves the right to:
  • Refuse customer registration.
  • Decline any order.
  • Request additional documentation.
  • Refuse collection where documentation cannot be verified.
  • Amend these Terms & Conditions without prior notice.

Privacy

Passport images and personal information are collected solely for:
  • Customer identification
  • Processing remote orders
  • Compliance with customs legislation
  • Fraud prevention
  • Record keeping required by law
Baobab Duty Free will take reasonable steps to protect personal information and will not disclose it except where required by law or by a competent authority.

Limitation of Liability

Baobab Duty Free is not liable for:
  • Decisions made by ZIMRA or any customs authority.
  • Delays caused by border authorities.
  • Seizure of goods by customs authorities.
  • Duties or taxes imposed after purchase.
  • Changes to customs legislation or traveller rebate rules.

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
Official ZIMRA Information Customers are encouraged to consult the official ZIMRA Traveller Rebate guidance before travelling, as customs requirements and allowances may change.
